With the first spring training games for the 2012 baseball season just over a week away, I thought it might be fun to look back at some of the stats from 2011. Here are a few gems from last year. Keep in mind that the price of an average MLB ticket was $27:
Vernon Wells: With a 2011 salary of $23 million and a batting average of .218, Mr. Wells was paid a whopping $210,000 per base hit last year.
Joe Mauer: Joe also boasted a salary of $23 million in 2011, and his paltry 3 home runs cost the Twins $7.7 million each.
Barry Zito: Barry and his $18.5 million salary were only able to start 13 games last year. But of those 13 games he was only able to win THREE ($6.2 million each).
